Stainless Steel Pipe Sizes and Weight Chart in MM

Measuring the diameter of a pipe might seem quite simple at first – you just measure the diameter of the pipe. However, it’s important that you measure the right diameter with the right unit, so you can tell exactly what size it is, and make sure that when you’re reordering fittings or more pipe, that you choose the right size.
Pipes are a typical material used in the fencing industry, particularly for chain link fences and gates. Pipe and tubing, on the other hand, are not the same thing! Because the pipe was initially designed to transport water, the ID (internal diameter) was the most important parameter. The ID is the nominal dimension for the pipe. So, 1½ inch pipe has a nominal (roughly) 1½ inch inside diameter rather than an outer diameter of 1½ inch. The pipe is often made with looser tolerances and is less expensive to buy. However, in the fencing and construction industries, where the pipe is regularly used, it is frequently referred to by its outer dimension, because fittings, caps, and other pieces most usually mate the pipe’s exterior.

For instance, the steel pipe diameter is indicated by its “Nominal” thickness and NOT actual thickness. In other words, “Nominal” or NPS is a non-dimensional number referring to the diameter of a pipe’s hole. OD’s (Outside Diameter) of pipe remains the same regardless of its Schedule. The thickness of the pipe’s wall is denoted by various “schedules,” the most frequent of which are schedules 5, 10, and 40. The actual wall thickness of any schedule varies depending on the pipe size. A 1-inch Schedule 40 pipe has a.133-inch wall thickness, and a 2-inch Schedule 40 pipe has a.154-inch wall thickness.

Stainless Steel Pipes Sizes range from 1/8 inch to 48-inch large diameter pipe, the most commonly used sizes include 1 inch stainless steel pipe, 1 1/2 inch stainless steel pipe, 2 inch stainless steel pipe, 2 1/2 inch stainless steel pipe, 3 inch stainless steel pipe, 4 inch stainless steel pipe, 5 inch stainless steel pipe, 6 inch stainless steel pipe, 8 inch stainless steel pipe, 12 inch stainless steel pipe, and 36 inch large diameter stainless steel pipe.
