SS 904L Pipe and Tube is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with superior corrosion resistance compared to other materials. It contains 25% chromium, 4.5% nickel, and 1.5% molybdenum, giving it excellent properties such as high strength and durability, stress-corrosion cracking resistance, pitting resistance in chloride environments, formability at both low temperature and elevated temperatures up to 575°C (1088°F), general oxidation resistance up to 870°C (1600 °F) in intermittent service or 1150°C (2100°F) in continuous service. These exceptional properties make ASTM B673 UNS N08904 Pipe/ Tube an ideal choice for applications where chemical processing is exposed to aggressive chloride-containing media like sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. Furthermore, its low carbon composition also makes 1.4539 Pipes ideal for use with foodstuffs as it reduces the possibility of carbide precipitation due to welding or heat treatment processes.
