Stainless Steel AL6XN Pipes and Tubes are a superaustenitic alloy. It has an austenitic base of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen with an addition of aluminium that provides improved resistance to pitting and chloride ion corrosion stress cracking while retaining similar levels of general corrosion resistance as other 6% Moly alloys. In comparison to other stainless steel alloys such as 316L/316Ti and 317L/317LMN, ASTM A249 AL6XN Pipes is higher in strength, comparable in corrosion resistance yet lower in cost – making it a great choice for areas subject to higher temperatures or more aggressive chemical environments. Additionally, its increased aluminium content helps ensure excellent formability at elevated temperatures, which can sometimes be challenging when using regular stainless steel. Due to these properties combined with its weldability through high-quality inert gas shielded welding processes (GTAW), Stainless Steel AL6XN N08367 Pipes and tubes are used extensively in water treatment plants/systems, marine industry applications such as seawater heat exchangers, offshore oil production operations and desalination facilities where extreme conditions must be met in regards to temperature fluctuations from hot summer days up until freezing winter nights.
