Tongue and Groove Flange (TGF), a flanged joint, is a mechanical union of two components: the tongue and the groove. The tongue is a flat metal cut to fit into the gap or hole in an opposing component. The groove is similarly mated to the other component, typically through welding or bolting. This connection creates an interference fit that securely holds both pieces together without additional fastening. ASME B16.5 TGFs<\/strong> are commonly used in piping systems because they prevent leaks while allowing easy inspection and maintenance access. They can also be found in machine parts such as bearings and couplings, providing superior strength over traditional bolted joints making them ideal for high-load applications.<\/p>\n
